STAND T.A.L.L. Thank A Local Lawman presented the Law Enforcement Division at Blue Ridge Community College with a $1000.00 donation to be used to help pay tuition costs for one or more incoming students selected by the Division’s team that oversees their 16-week Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) class. According to Ron Kauffman, President of STAND T.A.L.L., “This is our second year as donors to the Law Enforcement Division for the benefit of students seeking to enter their BLET program.
We’re delighted to be able to provide funds to educate future members of NC law enforcement.
Asked about their program and this donation, Sherry Phillips, Director of Law Enforcement Training said, “Blue Ridge Community College is known throughout North Carolina for the quality and high standards of our Law Enforcement classes. Our BLET training, in particular, goes well beyond the minimum state requirements. We’re aware that the need for new recruits for law enforcement is increasing, but tuition costs, the growing challenges, inherent dangers of the job and the modest compensation offered law enforcement is making it more difficult to attract younger people to that career. Thanks to STAND T.A.L.L. we are able to offer financial assistance to some qualified students who otherwise might not be able to enroll in our training.”
